We are a group of young people, writing horse racing journalism for other young people. We believe it is essential to bring a new generation into the sport, and a place just for the younger generations is just the place to do that.
Meet The Writers:
Niamh (@NiamhTownsend)- Hi, I’m Niamh. I’m 21 and have been obsessed with horse racing for the last decade. My favourite horses are Silviniaco Conti and Frodon. I would love to be a racing journalist one day. I regularly go to race meets, my first being when my Grandad took me to Aintree. I work on the Rein It In Racing Podcast and will also be writing articles every now and again.
Samantha (@sam_angelina22)- Hi I’m Samantha and I’m one of the writers for Rein It In Racing. I’m 18 years old and I got into racing by going to see my Grandad and watching Channel 4 Racing with him for as long as I can remember. Smad Place and Mulcahys Hill are my all-time favourite racehorses. I realized I wanted a career in racing when I was about nine or ten. I would love to be a journalist on TV as well as for a newspaper. My biggest aim was to be the first female jockey to win the Grand National – but Rachael Blackmore beat me too that!
Evie (@_evielily_)– Hi I’m Evie, I’m 21 and I’m one of the writers for Rein It In Racing. I first got into racing by watching the Grand National when I was younger, but it completely sparked last year when I was introduced to racing on social media. Since then my love of the sport has only grown, so much so that I am now planning a career with Racing. I personally prefer flat racing over national hunt racing, and a lot of my writing is focused on international racing.
Killian (@KillianBroderi1)- My name is Killian and I am 21 years old. My family have no background in racing and I have developed my own interest in the sport. I think my love for the sport came from watching horses such as Balthazar King and Big Bucks winning at Cheltenham. A book called ‘When Bobby met Christy’ caused me to become enthralled in the sport. Stories of the great Arkle and the mystery surrounding Shergar also fuelled my interest in racing. I would love to make racing a way of life as a journalist. They say doing something you love means you will never work a day in your life. I loved Australia when he was racing and look forward to watching his progeny. Davy Russell is by far my favourite jockey and is the ultimate horseman.
Lois (@lowy121) – Hello, I’m Lois. I am 20 years old and have had a keen interest in racing ever since Kauto Star’s first King George V win. I will be writing a few segments for Rein It In Racing- my main points of interest being ‘Big Race Analysis’ and life Behind The Scenes of Horse Racing! I hope you enjoy all that we have to offer here at Rein It In.
Luke (@Lukekeena1)– Hi, I’m Luke and I am 19 years old. I have had a keen interest in racing since I was young. I always loved going racing. My favourite tracks are Leopardstown and the Curragh. My favourite horses are Faugheen and Highland Reel. I think Faugheen has a special place in every Irish racing fans heart.
Jake (@JakeRuss1000)– My name is Jake Russell (@JakeRuss1000) and I am a huge Horse Racing fan, which I have been for a number of years now. I post daily selections on my Twitter with a lot of discussions on the main topics of horse racing at present. I interact with all my followers and I absolutely love doing this, it makes my day when I get a lot of people interacting with my posts. I also run the odd competition when there is a big meeting that goes on for a few days, with good prizes for the winner.
Aaron Casey (@Aaro18923230) –Hi, I’m Aaron. I’m 21 and obsessed with horse racing. My favourite horses are Ferny Hollow and Chacun pour Soi and my favourite horse ever was Vautour when I seen him winning the Grade 1 2m 4F Novice hurdle at Punchestown 2014. I live beside a famous horse trainer so I have always had a keen interest in horse racing. I am also sports mad. I attended many big horse racing festivals such as Leopardstown, Galway and Punchestown.
