We are a group of under 18s, writing horse racing journalism for other under 18s. We believe it is essential to bring a new generation into the sport, and a place just for the younger generations is just the place to do that.
Meet The Writers:
Evie- Hi I’m Evie, I’m 16 and I’m one of the writers for Rein It In Racing. I first got into racing by watching the Grand National when I was younger, but it completely sparked last year when I was introduced to racing on social media. Since then my love of the sport has only grown, so much so that I am now planning a career with Racing. I personally prefer flat racing over national hunt racing, and a lot of my writing is focused on international racing.
Samantha- Hi I’m Samantha and I’m one of the writers for Rein It In Racing. I’m 14 years old and I got into racing by going to see my Grandad and watching Channel 4 Racing with him for as long as I can remember. Smad Place is my all-time favourite racehorse. I realized I wanted a career in racing when I was about nine or ten. I would love to be a journalist on TV as well as for a newspaper. My biggest aim is to be the first female jockey to win the Grand National.
Killian- My name is Killian and I am 17 years old. My family have no background in racing and I have developed my own interest in the sport. I think my love for the sport came from watching horses such as Balthazar King and Big Bucks winning at Cheltenham. A book called ‘When Bobby met Christy’ caused me to become enthralled in the sport. Stories of the great Arkle and the mystery surrounding Shergar also fuelled my interest in racing. I would love to make racing a way of life as a journalist. They say doing something you love means you will never work a day in your life. I loved Australia when he was racing and look forward to watching his progeny. Davy Russell is by far my favourite jockey and is the ultimate horseman.
Lois– Hello, I’m Lois. I am 17 years old and have had a keen interest in racing ever since Kauto Star’s first King George V win. I will be writing a few segments for Rein It In Racing- my main points of interest being ‘Big Race Analysis’ and life Behind The Scenes of Horse Racing! I hope you enjoy all that we have to offer here at Rein It In.
Luke– Hi, I’m Luke and I am 17 years old. I have had a keen interest in racing since I was young. I always loved going racing. My favourite tracks are Leopardstown and the Curragh. My favourite horses are Faugheen and Highland Reel. I think Faugheen has a special place in every Irish racing fans heart.
Max– I’m Max and I’m 18. I have always followed racing due to my dad’s longstanding interest. One of my earliest memories is of Kauto Star’s first Gold Cup and as a result Kauto will always be my favourite horse. I love both flat and national hunt racing but prefer the jumps. I regularly go to race meetings and have been lucky to see some great horses.
