Hi I’m Samantha and I’m one of the writers for Rein It In Racing. I’m twelve years old and I got into racing by going to see my Grandad and watching Channel 4 Racing with him for as long as I can remember.
I realised I wanted a career in racing when I was about nine or ten. I would love to be a journalist on TV as well as for a newspaper. My biggest aim is to be the first female jockey to win the Grand National.
My favourite flat horse is Harry Angel. I think he is a speed machine and one of the best sprinters around. As well as this he’s by my favourite sire Dark Angel! I love Permian. His win in the Dante was amazing and I cried when he died. I think he was a bit over raced and he shouldn’t have gone over to America to run.
National Hunt racing is my favourite type of racing and I LOVE Smad Place (I have a thing for grey stayers!). This season I hope his connections bring him down in trip because he has a lot of speed and the three mile chasing division is getting a bit too much for him I think. Colin Tizzard has lots of good horses in his stables for the new season and I think Native River will win a lot of races this season.
I’m quite a good tipster and my favourite thing to do other than horse riding is to go to Leicester Races. I have met a lot of the big names in the sport including Adam Kirby, Ryan Moore, Daryl Jacob and Richard Johnson. My favourite jump jockey is Sam Twiston-Davies and my favourite flat jockey is Adam Kirby.
I like to post on Instagram and I have an account called @horseracingstars which is about horseracing.
I’m so excited to write for Rein It In Racing and I hope you enjoy my articles!
