Four selections for Gowran Park

By Luke

Gowran Park hosts the penultimate meeting in Ireland before the Festival kicks off on Tuesday.

Race one off at 1:25
I like At The Acorn for Tony Martin. He finished third on debut at Limerick over Christmas. The winner Eclair De Beaufeu has since came out and won at Fairyhouse and also finished fourth in a very competitive handicap at Leopardstown during the Dublin Racing Festival. A repeat of that run would see him win this contest.

Race two off at 1:55

The Gunner Murphy finished second on his last start over hurdles. That was over two miles and six furlongs at Punchestown. The winner of that race was Gallant John Joe, he has since finished third in a Grade 1 at the Dublin Racing Festival in February. The step down to two miles will suit and I think he is the one to beat.

Race three off at 2:30

Ask David has been in good form of late finishing first and second in his past two runs. He was impressive when winning last time out at Punchestown. The return to two miles four furlongs seems to have brought him back to form recently. I think he is a horse going the right way and can be competitive off a mark of 95.

Race four off at 3:05

From Eden won at Navan last weekend. He was raised 7lbs for that win. He was running off a mark of 120 back in 2017 and is now running off 100. I think he can backup that win and get his head in front again.

Race five off at 3:40

R’evelyn Pleasure has been in good form of late. He was bred and is now trained by Sean O’Brien. He has won two of his last four races, the other two runs he was second and fourth. The fourth was in a good handicap Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival. He is a horse going the right way and can be competitive off a mark of 128.
