Preview of racing at Fairyhouse

By Luke

After a hard day for the Irish Grand National, I have a few selections that will hopefully fair better then my last post. The feature race is race six off at 4:40. Ivanovich Gorbatov is a horse that has little consistency but ran a nice race at Leopardstown at the Dublin Racing Festival. He bypassed Cheltenham because of a rise of his handicap mark by the British handicapped. He will love the quick ground at Fairyhouse and comes in a fresher horse than some. If he is on a going day he will hopefully go close at 8/1.

Race two off at 2:40

Stowaway Forever runs for the father son combination of Philip and Luke Dempsey.  He is a very consistent horse, when he has stayed on his feet he has been in the first three since November 2018. He ran a good race last time out finishing second in Wexford when giving the winner lots of weight. If he runs his race he won’t be too far away at 11/4.

Race three off at 3:00

Slowmotion is trained by Joseph O’Brien and Mark Walsh is in the saddle. She was last seen finishing fifth over hurdles at Cheltenham. She won this contest back in 2017. Reverting back to fences will see her to better effect and also receives weight off the top two in the market. If she runs her race she won’t be far away at 7/2.

Race four off at 3:40

The Church Gate was in the process of running a big race when squeezed out at Limerick last time out. He has been in good form over hurdles winning two ina row, one in November and one in December during the Christmas festival. His rating of 107 over fences is a winnable mark. If he can’t recapture the winning from at the tale end of last year he will go close at 4/1.

Race five off at 4:10

Choungaya had every chance coming to the last when he fell at Punchestown back in February. He will enjoy the quick ground at Fairyhouse. That was his first attempt at three miles and it seemed to be going well until the last. I think a mark of 136 is a fair one and I think he will go close at 8/1.
