Tuesday marks the first day of the fantastic five day festival at Punchestown. The feature of the seven races on day one is the BoyleSports Champion Chase off at 5:30. Un De Sceaux comes in here being the fresher horse than Min who has run at Cheltenham and Aintree. Last year Min done the same and ran a disappointing race here. Un De Sceaux was last seen finishing fifth in the Ryanair where he was held up which wouldn’t have suited him. The drop back down to two miles will see him to better effect and also a return to front running tactics. I think he will go close at 11/4.
Race three off at 4:55
Raya Time steps into handicap company for the first time after some nice runs in maiden hurdles. He has run into some nice horses in maidens finishing second to Annamix last time out. He is a keen sort who I think will be suited by the quicker pace in handicaps, which will help him settle. I think his mark of 127 is fair and I think he will run well at 9/1.
Race six off at 6:40
Delta Work comes into this race on the back of a great run in the RSA at the Cheltenham Festival in March. He was left infront three out and I think on another day if he had more cover coming into the straight he would have won. Prior to that he was unbeaten over fences for his three runs. I think he will return to winning ways here at 6/4.
Race seven off at 7:15
Front View ran a nice debut finishing second behind Blue Sari at Gowran back in January. Blue Sari has since came out and finished second in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Front View was beaten eleven lengths and he was a further fourteen lengths ahead of the third home. He was still going well last time out when he was brought down in Naas. I think he will come on for his runs and run well at 11/4.
