Preview of Day Two of the July Festival at Bellewstown

By Luke

Day two of the Bellewstown July festival gets underway with the Irish Stallions Farms EBF Maiden over five furlongs. Phase After Phase brings some smart form into the race. He has one run under his belt when he finished fifh in a good maiden at Naas. The horses that finished ahead of him on that occasion have came out and ran well since. The winnner Monarch Of Egypt has since finished second in the Railway Stakes last weekend. With the natural progression for the run I think he will be very hard to beat at 13/8.

Race two is the Indaver Ireland Handicap over five furlongs. Stanhope represents the inform trainer Damian English who had a first, second and third on day one of the festival. He was last seen finishing fourth at Down Royal last month beaten three lengths. The first two home have since came out and finished second and third in a competitive handicap at the Curragh last weekend. His last win came off a mark of 79 and now runs off a mark of 80. I think he can go close at 4/1 with Colin Keane in the saddle.

Race three is the Conachy’s Dunleer Seat Maiden over one mile and six furlongs. The Tooth Fairy runs for Aidan O’Brien with Wayne Lordan in the saddle. While her last run was bad the form of her run prior to that is working out well. This daughter of Galileo finished fourth in a maiden at Cork. The second from that race has since won two races including the Ulster Oaks last time out. I think this step up in trip will suit and I think she is overpriced at 14/1.

Race six is the Lougher Stables Handicap over seven furlongs for three year olds. Frischs Jog made a nice reappearance when finishing fourth at Fairyhouse in May. The second from that race Gatsby Cap has since won a handicap at Gowran. While she hasn’t a good draw I think with the improvement for the run, this daughter of Kodiac can go close at 7/1 while running off a mark of 45.
